Importing contacts

We've build a range of tools to help you get your data into Brightpearl. Visit Setup - Import data to choose from some preconfigured import systems:

Importing contacts from Microsoft Outlook

Open Outlook, and select File >> Import and Export

In the "Import and export wizard", you should be prompted with the following steps:

  1. "Choose an action to perform". Select "Export to a file".
  2. "Create a file type" Select "Comma separated values (Windows)"
  3. "Select a folder to export from"... click on your "Contacts" folder
  4. "Save exported file as"... choose a name for the file and location to save it.
  5. Click "Finish"
  6. Import the file into Brightpearl!

 

 

Importing contacts from MYOB

Select File >> Export Data >> Cards

  1. Choose a card file (Customers, Suppliers etc)
  2. Select "Comma-separated" from the Export File Format menu
  3. Click Continue
  4. Click Match All
  5. Click Export
  6. In your Brightpearl account, visit Home > Welcome Page
  7. Click the link to upload MYOB contacts (make sure you choose customers or suppliers)
  8. Import the file into Brightpearl!

Brightpearl will import:

  • Contact company, name, contact details
  • All 3 address books
  • Credit terms
  • Credit limit
  • Email and website information
  • MYOB "Notes" into the Brightpearl "Scribblepad"

If you're going to be importing your accounting Debtors and Creditors, don't change the company name since this is what we use to match on.

 

Exporting contacts from Linked In

  • Click the Contacts tab
  • Scroll to the bottom of your connections list
  • Click Export Connections
  • Choose to export to vCard, and verify account if prompted
  • Click the Export button.
  • Choose to Save the file on your computer, and be sure to remember the file location.
  • Import the vCard file into Brightpearl using the Import options on the Contacts ribbon menu.
